The Creative Writers family turned 7 on 23 May 2026 and it came bearing 120+ new books. At Rajeswari Mini Hall, Oorvashi Theatre Complex, the group celebrated literature, community, and the courage to keep writing through and beyond Covid.
Founded by poet and teacher Mrs. D. Brinda, Creative Writers has grown from a handful of writers into a vibrant network of voices. The 7th book release function honored that journey. Chief Guest Dr. V. Jeyakumar, Joint Director (Vocational), Directorate of School Education, Tamil Nadu, released the books in the presence of Guests of Honour including Dr. A. Loganathan, Padmashree awardee Mr. M. Subburaman, and Dr. R. Manoharan.
The day recognized writers who completed 365 days of writing, celebrated reviewers, and felicitated the pillars who hold the group together. Results of the online poetry competition were announced, and authors of the 120+ titles took the stage as their works were launched. A birthday cake cut marked CW’s 7th anniversary.
For many members meeting in person for the first time, the event felt like a literary homecoming. With 120+ books in hand, Creative Writers proved that consistency, encouragement, and love for the word can bloom into a garden of stories. Honoured the members participated in Mt Kenya international newspaper, Chennai City fm radio program, Thentamil News website, creative writers bi monthly e magazine, online poetry competition.
Creative Writers is a WhatsApp group that was started during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 with a small group of students and teachers from Tamil Nadu. The group is vibrant from 7 pm to 10 pm every day, rest of the time it is closed.
Every day, a new poetry topic is posted with a relevant background, and members are encouraged to write creatively and share their work within the given timeframe. They are free to think creatively, long or short. One of the unique aspects of this group is that members have the privilege of reviewing each other's posts, fostering a sense of community and constructive feedback.
The best reviewers are recognized with cash rewards and e-certificates signed by dignitaries. Regular writers are encouraged with e-certificates every month. If they write a minimum of 20 days.
The group celebrates its annual award function in May, where members release their own books and anthologies, they participate in online poetry competitions, and engage in monthly open mic sessions to enhance their presentation and pronunciation skills. Creative Writers also publishes a bi-monthly e-magazine, where members can contribute and receive e certificates for their participation.
Throughout the year, the group organizes various activities, including honoring 365-day writers with Santa Claus gifts during half yearly vacation, arranging short trips during quarterly holidays.
To date, over 500 members have released solo books and 7 anthologies are published. Creative writers poems have been published in national and international magazines and newspapers like Mt. Kenya international newspaper from South Africa.
Creative writers regular participation in Chennai City FM radio programs and other events further amplifies the group's reach and impact.

The group does not have hard and fast rules. It create a nurturing environment for creative expression.
Creative writers write letter to the soldiers of the nation . And an anthology was also released names guardian Angels of the nation, the founder got an opportunity to represent India in Japan Kumamoto for Tsunami awareness summit. There an anthology was released named we shall over come. A group photo was taken and the National Anthem was sung. The program ended successfully.
