You are the Butterfly

I was born inside a little cocoon,
Just a worm, wiggling with no way.
No wings, no sense, no sky to see,
Only a leaf to eat every day.
Ugly and small, I grew alone,
Wrapping myself in a single thread.
Hibernating through cold and heat,
Through wind and storm inside my bed.
No one saw the pain inside,
The waiting, the breaking, the prayer.
I pushed so hard to break the wall,
It hurt to breathe the open air.
My wings were stuck, wet and small,
I could not fly, I had to wait.
I let them dry in patient sun,
For freedom never comes in haste.
Now I fly, higher and higher,
Because I waited through that night.
Your wings are also stuck in you,
Let them dry, one day you will take flight.
