World Teachers’ Day

- T Meera, Erode

On this fifth day of October’s gentle light,

We honor those who teach with heart and might.

With chalk and words, you shape our dreaming minds,

And turn our doubts to hope that never declines.

You guide us through the pages, line by line,

And show us how to question, seek, and shine.

Your patience is a lamp that burns so bright,

To lead us safely through the darkest night.

You teach not only sums and verbs and dates,

But kindness, courage, and the strength to face our fates.

Each lesson lives beyond the classroom door,

A seed of wisdom growing more and more.

So on this day, we bow with grateful pride,

For all you give, and all you help us hide

No more: our fears, our failures, and our shame

You lift us up, and teach us how to aim.
