When her watch stopped, time finally spoke to her.

It was 8:15 when Lily dropped her beloved pale pink watch that she always adorned and never parted with it. After she got the watch, she even refused to see the clock to see the time! Lily didn't realize that her watch was broken on the inside because the outside of the watch was not broken, just scratched slightly. She thought she might fix that scratch after her school. She was rushing, yet still lazy because it was her exam at 9:15, the most important one of the year. And the watch really came in handy because it was always on her wrist, and with a small movement of looking at her wrist and she would know the time while getting ready.

“Since it is exam time and I am in a rush, even time moves slowly” she said, looking at her watch that was still 8:15 while getting ready. Little did she know that that watch was actually not functioning, it just paused.

The actual time was 9:00.

She then started to get ready almost lazily, for that she usually is a girl who always said “I’ll do it later”

It was 9:30 when she reached school, but she did not bother to look at her watch since she was recalling the information from chapter 7 while walking down the hallway. It was unusual, she did not see her friends flipping pages with anxious faces. Just empty and silence filled the way. But she did not mind it. Her mind was filled with the questions she was predicting to come to the exam. It was already 9:30. The exam completes at 10:30, and considering the syllabus, each and every second was vital so you can attend all questions.

She entered room number 45, her exam hall, surprised to see the invigilator already monitoring the students while pacing around, and they were seriously writing their exams at a speed faster than a flash. Lily’s best friend looked at her with a mixture of emotions, sad, surprised, shocked.

The invigilator was her class teacher and she asked Lily, “Why are you more than 30 minutes late, Lily? This is a very important exam and you totter around, not caring about the time?” her teacher was disappointed and angry.

Time. Yes. Time, she remembered, and looked at her loyal watch. It was still 8:15. Too late to realize that the watch stopped. She looked at the clock in the exam hall. 9:50. How could she write her exam in 40 minutes?

From that day on, she was not the girl who procrastinated everything. The day her watch broke was the day she realized the value of time. She once, perhaps more often said, “I have so much time”, she says now, “I’ll start”.

Time doesn't come back. But you can make a comeback! Come back as the person, who values time, respects it, understands it, not a second late. Her carelessness with time earned her nothing but loss. Time never waits.

In the end, she said, “The watch ticked again, and my mistakes never repeated.”

When her watch stopped, time finally spoke to her.
